Real-time, full motion, interactive video conferencing over the internet...
It sounds simple. It certainly seems intuitive. We hear and read about live streaming
in the press and touted in advertisements by companies who push dedicated hardware, leased lines, instant messaging systems,
or semi-interactive chat products that claim to provide internet video conferencing, but if it was that simple, that great,
that useful, why aren't we using it today?
Quality! The truth is that today's solutions are little more than toys pushing jpegs across the internet.
Bandwidth limitations, internet latency, computer requirements, and data compression are just a few of the
hurdles that must be overcome to bring high-quality, real-time video conferencing to the masses.
But what if those hurdles were overcome? What if video conferencing were possible today, right now? What if you could
defy distance, reduce travel costs, and bypass today's broadband limitations and allow an almost limitless number of people
to interact, watch, and collaborate with with you in real-time, from anywhere, worldwide in under 1 second flat? Welcome to RocketStream.
At RocketStream, we believe video conferencing should be a reality for every consumer, salesperson, doctor, educator, tutor,
advisor, and employer on the planet. A
technology that is accessible from any home with an affordable broadband connection, from any television set,
and from any web site that wants to connect one human being to another.
That dream is now a reality, and RocketStream delivers. What made the difference? Why now? What has changed?
When Breakthrough decided to overcome the barriers of today's internet environment to bring the highest
quality of interactive video streaming to the marketplace, it did it unwillingly.
Our team researched every vendor, every product, and every video codec on the market in the hopes that
our needs could be met by a solution
already available for purchase and use.
We were like any other solution provider, wanting to build on
someone else's technology instead of reinventing the wheel. Who better than
a Microsoft or a Real Networks to build upon, right? But it didn't work. There was
no wheel. Existing solutions designed to playback pre-recorded content did
not correlate into great solutions for
real-time video and audio delivery! Playback buffering, internet latency, and server lag are just
a few of the symptions that make video conferencing impossible using these off-the-shelf solutions.
If you want to watch the news with a 30 second delay, you can use an off-the-shelf media product. If you want
to interact with another human being in real-time over the internet, you need RocketStream.
With no solution in sight, we did what any challenged group of engineers would do..we built it right.
We designed a streaming protocol to be
more secure and efficient when traveling over the internet, a suite of scalable streaming servers
that manage connectivity, authentication, routing, and billing services 24/7, and an integration server
allowing any third-party solution or web site to leverage our technologies without sacrificing
security, without huge integration efforts, and without the inherent delays and costs of bringing
new products to market.
We designed optimized encoding stations for increased interactivity and customization, Windows-based
tools to encode, monitor, and stream our
interactive experience, ActiveX controls that embed in web sites, and hardware solutions
that bring video conferencing to your home television set. We
designed our own optimized players, integrated "raise-your-hand" capabilities for bi-directional voice,
and built monitoring, transaction, and billing systems to handle almost any form of audience
and 1-to-1 application imaginable. Need an interactive classroom? We can do it. Want to perform a remote
sales presentation or training seminar? Not a problem. Want to synchronize your custom data feed
with our video stream to control or monitor
equipment, lighting, or instrumentation? Yes, can do.
Today that work has culminated into RocketStream, a network of streaming servers, tools, platforms, and
technologies specifically designed to bring interactive video collaboration to the consumer and commercial
markets.
It's real, it's live, and it's launched.
Our goal and mission is to partner with niche solution providers to bring enterprise class video
streaming and conferencing solutions to market.
But don't take our word for it. Experience it first-hand by requesting
a live demo from the comfort of your
home or office setting. All you need in an Internet Explorer browser and a broadband connection.
