The Project
SunGard Trust Systems had a mission. They were already underway - enlisting the help of one of the
nations largest computer manufacturers to deploy their latest product development called PAL, but
there were problems. The vendor could not execute timely. They were confused about the platform.
SunGard reached out to Breakthrough Technologies for assistance. The challenge was conveyed - throw
out the old design except for the creative look and feel, architect and build a system that can pull
data from the mainframe into a SQL Server database, and provide a branded web front-end for consumers
to view their investment activity on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis, complete with graphs,
personalization, and the ability to download into Quicken. One more thing, train our existing
development team, work with our DBA, and turnkey the deliverable in 8 weeks in time for the official
launch.
The result was PAL (Portfolio Account Link), delivered on schedule, on budget, and transferred to
