Drive Virtual Disk System
Breakthrough Drive is a secure virtual disk system providing real-time local access to remote files and folders stored on a Breakthrough Vault. Drive's acceleration and caching capabilities deliver LAN-like response-times while optimizing bandwidth utilization over consumer-grade broadband connections.
Drive is deployed as a Windows service and managed through the Link GUI interface, or via a remote connection through Connect.
Mount profiles are defined with the Drive service and activated exposing files and folders visible on remote Vault Shares to appear as locally-accessible sub-folders on the local disk system, or as newly-mounted drive volume letters.
Drive leverages a high-performance disk cache and proprietary refresh logic to keep local virtual disk states in sync with remote volume activity, while maintaining fast response times under load. Dormant communication connections are disconnected and reconnected on demand as activity resumes, allowing frequently accessed information to be available and responsive even while completely offline.
Vaulting applications leveraging Drive technology typically consist of remotely deployed Vaults for data management, and interactive Connect clients as media ingestion tools.
